We provide care for children aged 4 to 12 years old.

Echunga OSHC (Echunga Out of School Hours Care Service) located at Echunga Primary School, provides a High Quality Accredited Before and After School Care Service and Vacation Care Service. We are proudly open for business 50 weeks a year.

Our History

Echunga OSHC was established by the local school community in April 1995 starting with After School Care, followed by Before School Care in 1997 and then Vacation Care in September 2004. We cater for 20 children during After School Care and Vacation Care and 17 children during Before School Care.

Our Philosophy - Under Review March 2012

Our program has been established with the aim of providing high Quality Child Care, within the requirements of the OSHC Quality Assurance System, to meet the needs of children, parents, caregivers, staff and the community during out of school hours. As we acknowledge the importance of Middle Childhood, the individual needs of each child will be catered for to the best of our ability as we encourage each child’s development of self-esteem, participation, positive behaviour and responsibility. We value, respect and encourage positive diverse and inclusive behaviours, and encourage children to challenge discrimination, bias and prejudice. We acknowledge that the children and parents who use the program come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and we aim to support families while providing a variety of experiences to further enhance their children’s life skills. We believe that children learn best through play in a positive and happy environment. We believe communication between management – staff – families – children and the extended community is a vital key in maintaining the highest level of quality care in the success of the Echunga OSHC service.

Opening Times and Fees

How to Enrol

Simply contact Jodie McDonald (the OSHC Director) on 8388 8563 to arrange an Enrolment Session. At the Enrolment Session you will be given an Enrolment form and a Parent Information Package all about our Service. Children must be enrolled prior to commencing care.

Making a Booking or Cancellation

When you have enrolled in our OSHC Service bookings and cancellations can be made simply by phoning the OSHC number on 8388 8563 during OSHC opening hours, in person at the OSHC Room, or by phoning the Echunga Primary School Office on 8388 8306 during School hours.

Cancellations for BSC, ASC and VAC require 7 days notice, and are to be made by the parent / caregiver of the child. If your cancellation falls within the 7 days you will be charged your normal fee. When we are fully booked and your place is filled by another child, you will not be charged.

Paying your Account

We are proud to be able to email accounts out to Families, so drop in and give us your email address. You may still collect your account from OSHC if you choose to.

Families can now pay their account online with EFT/Direct Debit. Your OSHC/Vacation Care Account will have all the details.

How to reduce the cost of your child’s care fees

Child Care Benefit (CCB)

The Child Care Benefit is an Australian Government payment made to eligible families to assist with the cost of Child Care. Families may choose to receive their CCB through a reduction in their fee from our OSHC Service or as a lump sum at the end of the financial year. Child Care Rebate (CCR)

The Child Care Rebate is another Australian Government payment made to eligible families to help with the cost of care. With the Government’s Child Care Rebate, if you meet the eligibility criteria you can get 50 per cent of your out-of-pocket expenses back, making our OSHC service more affordable. Families may choose to receive their payments quarterly or annually, once you have lodged you tax return. For more information please contact the OSHC Director.

Late Fee

A late fee of $1.00 per minute per child is charged to Families if children are picked up after the service is closed at 6.30pm.

Signing Children In and Out

As a legal requirement Parents/caregivers are responsible for signing their children into BSC, signing children out of ASC and signing children in and out during VAC.

Echunga OSHC Staff Information

All staff have current police checks and responding to abuse and neglect training. Qualified staff have Senior First Aid training and either an Australian recognised Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent, or a Teaching degree.
